Messages Highlight the late financier and former Trump strategist Connection

In November 2018, Steve Bannon, previously a top aide to Donald Trump, was in the UK preparing for a address at the Oxford Union.

The event was disrupted by hundreds of protesters, and Bannon, who was due to board a flight that night, informed Jeffrey Epstein in an email: "Activists slowed down speech don't think I can catch the flight we are heading to heathrow".

Epstein replied: "There. Is a gulf air departing at 9:50 with a layover in Bahrain". Bannon replied: "U r an excellent helper".

These exchanges were published on Wednesday together with over 20,000 documents from the estate of Epstein, the late convicted sex offender.

The release by the Congressional committee contains an text conversation where Bannon's name is withheld. The BBC has been able to establish his identity by cross-referencing the timeline, occurrences, and places referenced.

For example, Epstein discusses arranging a plane from the UK for the unnamed individual in the chat, and commends their "address at Oxford". Bannon participated in the News Xchange conference on November 14, and delivered the talk at the Oxford on November 16.

Bannon, who is not accused of any wrongdoing, did not reply on the request for comment.

'I'll make sure you're well looked after'

Bannon served as Trump's closest aides in the run up to the presidential election and during the initial phase of his presidency, but resigned from the administration in 2017.

He has acknowledged he was making a documentary about Epstein prior to his passing and allegedly has around 15 hours of footage. In a live taping of his podcast recently, he stated: "We're going to publish the film, the multi-part documentary, next year - early next year."

But the recently disclosed documents indicate Bannon's connection with Epstein went further than documenting his life, with the disgraced financier occasionally seeming to act like a aide.

A short time prior to the exchange in which Epstein seemed to arranged a charter jet for Bannon, Epstein remarked: "how does it feel to have the highest-paid booking agent in history ".

Bannon expressed gratitude: "U r pretty good asst", to which Epstein responded "Therapies. Excluded".

Discussing a trip to "AD" in another message, Epstein assured Bannon: "I will ensure you're well looked after."

British Affairs Discussed in Messages

The released communications also reveal Bannon and Epstein discussing UK politics in 2018.

On the day of his speech at the Oxford Union, Bannon texted Epstein: "I became involved in the EU exit issue this day with Farage, Boris and Rees Mogg."

Then, in what appears to be a allusion to Theresa May, the embattled UK prime minister at the period, he added: "The guys are attempting to proceed. May today / tomorrow…"

Epstein suggested Bannon: "I think staying as much as you can in the UK. Ideal- so others see the commitment of your follow-up."

Shortly after, Epstein asked: "Will Theresa may remain in power". Bannon answered: "I don't see how BUT the guys here have no balls" and noted "Johnson ; Michael Gove; Jacob Rees-Mogg; Davis - someone has to step up".

Theresa May was finally removed in 2019 after withstanding multiple attempts of lack of support in December 2018.

A spokesman for the political party told the BBC: "Nigel Farage has never been in a gathering with Bannon, Rees-Mogg and Boris Johnson." And there is nothing to suggest that encounter occurred.

The Congress will decide next week on whether the Department of Justice should release all its records concerning its investigation into Epstein, who died in prison in 2019.

Interest in Epstein's associations with powerful figures was reignited recently after the publication of over 20,000 documents from his archives.

A portion of those referenced Trump, who has consistently denied any impropriety. The president was a friend of Epstein's for a long time, but says they fell out in the early 2000s, a couple of years prior to Epstein was initially charged.
